the Art of Attention
(noun) Creative and operational support for hospitality and guest-facing businesses
(verb) A practice of noticing spaces + people
Meet Meagan.
Hello!
I’m a native Californian, artist, and guest experience consultant with more than two decades in hospitality. I’ve worked in restaurants from throughout California, most recently as General Manager of Botanica in Los Angeles, with earlier experience at Bib Gourmand-recognized Canon in Sacramento.
I hold a BFA in 2D Design, and my creative background spans branding, entrepreneurship, gallery management, collage, ceramics, and concept development. This unique path has taught me to think not only about how a place functions, but how ideas are expressed through space, visuals, service, and story.
The Art of Attention brings these worlds together: hospitality experience, operational understanding, and a creative eye for the details that shape how a place feels.
What Makes a place Memorable?
A brand is not only what a business says about itself. It is what people encounter: the entrance, the lighting, the language, the service, the sound of the room, the ease of the experience.
I work at the intersection of creative thinking and practical execution, helping ideas carry through into the places, objects, and interactions people actually remember.
What I look at
Space
Shape how your business looks, feels, sounds, and flows. Improve lighting, music, signage, merchandising, atmosphere, spatial flow, and other guest-facing touch points.
Service
Strengthen the human side of the experience through thoughtful service cues, staff guidance, hospitality standards, and clearer guest interactions from arrival through departure.
Operations
Build practical systems that help the business run more smoothly and consistently. Streamline SOPs, communication, workflows, priorities, and everyday processes that support the team behind the scenes.
Strategy
Clarify what makes the business distinctive and how that idea should show up in the world. Shape new concepts, offerings, collaborations, programming, positioning, and messaging through research, mood boards, naming, visual direction, and opportunities for growth.

Your Questions, Answered

Maybe you opened quickly and never had time to fully dial the space, service, or systems. Maybe business started strong but has slowed, and you’re not sure what changed. Or perhaps the concept has evolved while the guest experience hasn’t kept pace. I bring an outside perspective to help spot what may be getting lost and identify practical opportunities to strengthen the experience.

The Art of Attention is not a traditional branding, interior design, or architecture studio. I work alongside owners, operators, designers, and creative teams to help connect the big idea to the real-world guest experience.
I can help identify opportunities, shape creative direction, clarify priorities, and translate ideas into practical recommendations. When a project requires specialized design, architecture, fabrication, or technical execution, I’m happy to collaborate with the right partners.

Projects can focus on one immediate need or combine several areas, including creative strategy, spatial and sensory experience, service, and operations.
That might mean clarifying your brand story, improving signage or merchandising, refreshing music and atmosphere, refining service cues, organizing SOPs, developing a new offering, or shaping a larger guest experience from start to finish.
-
My perspective comes from working across both creative and operational worlds. I have a background in fine art and design, have built and run my own creative business, and have spent more than 20 years in restaurants, most recently as General Manager at a successful restaurant in Los Angeles.
That means I’m not only looking at how something should feel or look. I’m also thinking about how it functions, how a team carries it out, and whether the idea can actually live in the day-to-day experience.

Start with a conversation. Tell me what you’re working on, what feels stuck, or what you’re hoping to improve. From there, I can recommend whether a focused project, audit, or more comprehensive engagement makes the most sense.
